Opportunity lost? Maybe, maybe not - EMS energy

Chart-ed this last night, and told myself to look for opportunity for entry. However, today's work was too much, and by the time I am free, the market is already closed. While EMS energy ended on 0.063, the day high was 0.066. Could easily have gone in get myself a 6-9% gain just in a day. But as the saying goes, opportunity are abundance, it is just about knowing where to look.

I will take another look at the chart later to see if there are potential for more upside. Will update here if there is!

UPDATE!

As promised, I chart-ed again on EMS after its' gain today. I feel there there is still potential for upside, if the price action is able to overcome the immediate resistance of 50ma at 0.066. the next resistance level will then be at 0.070 being the upper bound of the current price it is ranging from.

Stochastic crossover is strong and pulling away from its D-signal. This indicting further potential for upside. MACD is crossing its center line, means that upside momentum is increasing. There is also an increase in the share's volume showing that things might start to get interesting. If coupled together with tight stop loss, there should be minimum downside risk, and a chance for short-term gain.

P/S: Charisma energy is the other stock to look out for. :)

Uptrend or Downtrend - Explanation for Golden Cross

After a long and busy weekend, I finally have some time for myself.

In my previous post, I mention golden agri is entering an uptrend mode due to the start of the golden cross..

So what exactly is the golden cross? In Technical Analysis term, the golden cross happens when a securities short-term moving average crosses or moves above its long-term moving average. Using the example in my previous post, the 50 days moving average (50ma) is closing in, in fact, touching the 150 days moving average (150ma). Once the crossing over is completed, it would indicate that, the stock has moved above its longer-term value and that the bull is on the horizon, this is to be further confirmed by high volume of buying pressure. In additional, the long-term moving average, will then becomes a new support line for the stock price.

A point to note, the golden cross although is used as an trend indictor, it does not define what exactly is a short-term or long-term moving average. Some analyst might use 10 days, 20 days, 50 days or even 100 days as the short-term moving average, other others might use 50, 100, 150 or 200 days for the long-term moving average. This is usually up the personal analysis method, and also highly dependent on the stocks pattern.

For less volatile stocks, like golden-agri, I will prefer to use the 50/150ma cross over for indiction. I feel that this combination provides quite an accurate result for stock of such nature. The 50ma short-term does not include too much volatility, while the 150ma long-term does not average out too much of movements.

Meanwhile do try out which moving average suits you better and look out for my post for any potential winner stock!

Start of an UPTREND - Golden Agri-Res

I am really busy today with work, but would like to share this good opportunity before anyone miss it. I did this TA last night before going to bed.

long story short....

It seems like golden agri is about to enter an uptrend with the golden crossing of 50MA and 150MA (moving averages). I do not have time to deep into the details, but the my target buy and cut loss price is indicated in the chart.

disclaimer: I am currently not vested (yet). And the above are all my personal view. As with other investment blog, do your own diligence before you enter/ exit a position.

Another Ascending Triangle break out? - Nam Cheong

In my previous posts, I have talked the ascending triangle and shown how profit can be made by waiting for the break up signs.

Recently I noticed that Nam Cheong is also forming the ascending triangle, but it is slightly tricky. As shown below, there are 2 different gradient line that forms this triangle, the upper brown line and the lower more slopping black line.

According to the technicals, the break out target price (TP) is the width of the furthest distance between the resistance line and the raising support line. But with 2 different support line forming, it is harder to determine the TP.

So to be on the safe side, we will use the brown support line with a lower TP.

For those who have long, a break up would means continuation of the uptrend. If you are looking to enter, it would be better to wait for a clear break out with volume, or indiction of strong stochastic cross over. Which I will cover in my next post.

Thanks

The Ascending Triangle

The ascending triangle, is a bullish(ascending) continuation pattern. Although they are continuation pattern, they are bullish in nature and normally means that an up-trend is coming in the short future. the ascending triangle also indicates accumulation, whereby the low gets higher (supported by the lower uptrend line) while resistance tends to remove at the same level (top resistance line).

Below shows an illustration of an ascending triangle.

Any price outbreak from this triangle can be obtained by adding the widest distance between the top and support line to the break out position.

Take a look at my previous post for an example.

Technical Analysis on Hankore - September

Let me start by sharing on the TA(technical analysis) for Hankore.

As you can see from the chart, the price started forming an ascending triangle on 13 Sept with resistance @ 0.056. If you are familiar with ascending triangle, it is usually a bullish continuation pattern.

This presents an opportunity to enter the stock with a good risk to return ratio. As a break out would indicate an uptrend with short-term TP @ 0.065.

The chart below shows that comes immediately after the breakout.

That would have made you some nice profit.

Introduction to the Financial World

My interest in stock started about a year ago, I was thinking of how to make use of what I currently have to make more $$$$ money. Since then I have been reading up book on finance and investment. I decide to start putting my money into sgx stock, since it is one of simpler and cheaper way to begin the investment journey.

Similar to what most people did, I started by reading up on financial reports of well-know company. Unfortunately, as I am not a finance/ business student, most of the stuff in the report does not make sense to me. Hence I turned to the other alternative way of reading the market, by looking at charts, which is also known as technical analysis.

I have been doing charting for awhile (4 months) and could be making minor profit (if not for making some mindless punts). Feel thats if I share my charts, maybe I could get some feedback from the pros around to become better.

Watch this space as I will be posting of the my past and future charts.

Cheers and HUAT AH!!
